Håvard Mølnås is pursuing a PhD in Materials Chemistry at NYU Tandon. He graduated from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in 2011 with a M.S. in Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology. Post-graduation, he was a project engineer working on producing solar grade silicon through the metallurgical route at FESIL AS in Trondheim, Norway, before moving to Mo i Rana, Norway to work as a metallurgist on one of the world’s largest ferrosilicon smelting furnaces at Elkem Rana AS. His current research in the Hybrid Nanomaterials Laboratory is focused on colloidal quantum dot infrared photodetectors. In his spare time, he enjoys running around in the woods with a map looking for orange and white orienteering checkpoints, as well as going kayaking, hiking, skiing or snowboarding.
